Frequently Asked Questions

Taking the first step in asking for help can be scary.

It takes courage to consider starting therapy. I want your first steps to be as easy and as welcoming as possible.

How do I get started?

To schedule an appointment, you can call me at (925) 785-6468 or click the button below to schedule your free 20-minute consultation. This consultation allows you to ask any questions you might have, explore what it might look like to work together, and get a sense of whether or not I’m the right fit for you. This is a great first step in starting the therapy process!

What will my first appointment be like?

The first session is a 50-minute, low-key conversation where I can get a snapshot of what your current concerns are, as well as your health and personal history. I will listen with carefully with compassion and acceptance. At the end of the session I will provide some thoughts on a treatment plan to meet your unique goals, what that would look like, and most importantly, check in to see if you feel welcomed and comfortable working with me. If so, we will schedule a consistent time slot that will remain your appointment time for the duration of therapy.

I’ve been thinking about going to therapy, but I’m nervous.

It’s totally normal to be nervous about starting therapy. Trust takes time to build. Asking for help with life challenges is a big step and will empower you to take the next step, then the next. I will provide a safe, encouraging place where we can explore your needs and goals. Every small step matters.

Do you accept insurance?

I am currently contracted with Anthem, Blue Shield, Cigna, and Optum. I will bill your insurance directly. You are responsible for any co-payments at the time of service and any fees which your insurance company does not pay. Fees are due at the beginning of each session.

How do I use my insurance?

I recommend that you call your insurance company and ask following questions:

  • Does my health insurance plan cover mental health therapy?

  • How much is my deductible, and have I met it yet for this year?

  • What is my co-payment?

  • How many therapy sessions are covered per calendar year?

  • Is prior authorization for sessions required?

What will private pay therapy cost?

  • $150 for a 50-minute individual therapy session

  • $220 for a 90-minute individual therapy session

What forms of payment do you accept?

Cash, checks, credit cards through IvyPay, ACH bank payments and HSA checks are all accepted.

What is your cancellation policy?

I understand that unexpected life events happen. Please make sure that you notify me 48 hours in advance of any non-emergency cancellations; otherwise there will be a full fee charge for the missed session.
